  FUTURE WORKSHOPS

Below you find an overview of workshops to be organised within the APROSYS project

November 2008

Workshop on "Passive Safety Systems for Motorcycles",
DEKRA, Neumuenster, Germany 26 November 2008

In this 1-day Workshop, all the results achieved in APROSYS SP4 will be finally presented with an integral approach. The different developments such as the protective equipment (helmet and thorax protector prototypes), new motorcyclist protective device (infrastructure), activation strategies for firing the passive safety device, …. Validation tests for helmet and thorax protector will also be demonstrated. A couple of crash tests both against car and against infrastructure (according to the standard proposal) will be included during the show.

  PREVIOUS WORKSHOPS

Below you find an overview of workshops previously organised within the APROSYS project

June 2008

Workshop on "Initial Concepts for New or Improved Vulnerable Road User Test Methods",
Brussels, Belgium, 19 June 2008

Download the workshop presentations (pdf)

In the 1990s EEVC Working Groups 10 and 17 created the original specifications of the pedestrian impact test procedures, that are the basis of the tests used by EuroNCAP and for European legislative vehicle type approval. Since the 1990s the European vehicle fleet has changed enormously in terms of size, shape, mass and front impact characteristics. This has been reflected in a change in the injuries sustained by vulnerable road users (VRUs) when they are in collision with a passenger vehicle that may be a car, an MPV or an SUV. These changes require a reappraisal of the test methods used to assess vehicle aggressivity to VRUs.

The goal of the workshop was to present the initial concepts for new or improved test methods to be used in assessing passenger vehicle aggressivity to VRUs to interested parties and stakeholders and receive feedback from legislators and industry.

May 2008

Workshop on "Vulnerable Road User Protection for Heavy Goods Vehicles",
DEKRA Automobil GmbH, Crash Test Centre: Neumünster,Germany, 6 and 7 May 2008

Download the workshop proceedings(pdf)

Partner protection is a key issue in current vehicle safety developments. A lot of effort is put in enhanced vulnerable road user protection of passenger cars and improved compatibility. It seems logical to introduce a test suite for heavy goods vehicles that addresses vulnerable road user protection.

The goal of the workshop was to present selected components of the work performed by APROSYS WP2.1 to interested parties and stakeholders and have feedback from industry. Finally a common view of future design of heavy goods vehicles should be developed, from the point of view of increased protection to vulnerable road users.

March 2008

Workshop on "A NEW PRE-CRASH SYSTEM FOR SIDE IMPACT PROTECTION - FINAL CRASH TEST",
valladolid, Spain 6 and 7 March 2008

contact SP6

In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to attend the crash test with running sensor and actuator system. Moreover, we will address one of the key hurdles in putting the system – a pre-crash system in general – on the market: How can it be ensured that these systems work properly and above all: who is going to take responsibility if these systems should fail?
