Full system simulations - Deliverable Report D635
July 2007, Confidential Report
Ensuring reliable validity of an FE model is essential for realistic simulations of systems or vehicles. Since this model was going to be used as a tool to develop the actuator system, it was necessary that the model was correlated to experimental results.
The behaviour of the FE full car model had to be as close as possible to the real car, since the final designed actuator will be checked in a real crash test. Two full vehicle crash tests with Moving Deformable Barrier (MDB) and pole were carried out without the active system. Based on these tests, the FE full car model was correlated to the experimental data collected.
In this document the work performed regarding the correlation of the full car model is described as well as the further process to design the actuator system and its integration into the car.
