Prototype of actuator implemented in subsystem - Deliverable Report D633
Maart 2007, Confidential Report

The prototype actuator was successfully implemented in a subsystem consisting of a DC Neon section. For the implementation only smaller modifications of the metal structure were necessary. In combination with the aluminium connections the locking device can easily be assembled.

In addition to recent results of simulations and future component tests, it will be necessary to adjust the position of the locking device and to even add more locking devices at other locations since the NEON structure proved to be very weak and to react adaptively. Due to the gained experiences these actions should be possible without significant problems.

As described in the introduction, this report is only related to the implementation of the “locking device”. The implementation of the new actuator concept (“tube actuator”) will be reported in Deliverable 6.3.3 B “Subsystem available in a fine tuned version including final documentation”.
