This report describes the designed stereo side pre-crash sensing system and performed preliminary data acquisition. Along with the sensing system, it describes the development of a tool for testing the precision and long-term stability of camera synchronization.

For performance characterization of detection and classification, the standard assessment tool ACoViS has been used. The result of a preliminary performance characterization is already satisfactory: although the detection rate is below 100 % considering individual images, all of the relevant objects were eventually detected in the sequences, with a maximum delay of two frames.
