One of the main objectives of Sub-Project 1 is to support the global development of harmonised of side impact test procedures. The Aprosys work focuses on the development and validation of four draft impact test procedures, proposed by the International Harmonised research Activities (IHRA). These could form the basis for future worldwide standards.
This report overviews the role of the Side Impact Working Group (SIWG), which was formed in 1998, and its mission to develop a suite of integrated test procedures. This paper is a status report with references to the latest version of the IHRA procedure as well as the publication made by the IHRA SIWG to the ESV Conference in 2005. The procedures mentioned will be further evaluated in this sub-project.
